Quotes
Add a QuoteCutter: Every great magic trick consists of three parts or acts. The first part is called "The Pledge". The magician shows you something ordinary: a deck of cards, a bird or a man. He shows you this object. Perhaps he asks you to inspect it to see if it is indeed real, unaltered, normal. But of course... it probably isn't. The second act is called "The Turn". The magician takes the ordinary something and makes it do something extraordinary. Now you're looking for the secret... but you won't find it, because of course you're not really looking. You don't really want to know. You want to be fooled. But you wouldn't clap yet. Because making something disappear isn't enough; you have to bring it back. That's why every magic trick has a third act, the hardest part, the part we call "The Prestige"."
Robert Angier: "This is his diary, Olivia... All of his secrets are right here in my hands!" Olivia Wenscombe: "It won't bring your wife back." Robert Angier: "I don't care about my wife! I care about his secret!"
Hotel Manager: I thought they might work for the government.
Robert Angier: No?
Hotel Manager: Worse. They work for Thomas Edison.
Robert Angier: I never thought I'd find an answer at the bottom of a pint glass.
Cutter: Hasn't stopped you looking, has it?
Now you're all looking for the secret, but you won't find it. Because after all, you're not really looking. You don't really want to know... You want to be fooled.

Add a CommentI loved this movie. Especially since David Bowie made an appearance as the SUPERIOR Nikola Tesla (yeah, buzz off, Edison.)
I thought it was a very boring move!! With all the great stars in the movie I thought it would be much better!! But It really sucked!!
Not bad, not bad at all.
Saw this years ago, rewatched and it's still really good. Plot is everything, and how many movies have a great story? Minus one star because it's so confusing and weird. Watch it anyways, great actors and very elegant direction.
Great movie, I saw it young so i didn't really understand it so you could only imagine how much better it was when i saw it later. Then i saw it like a million more times because its such a good movie. Would definitely recommend this.
great movie !! great acting !!! Bowie !!!!! Piper Perabo !!!!!
One of my favourite Christopher Nolan films. Watching it over and over again you always pick up something you missed before. I love discussing all the possible theories about the film's plot. The whole cast all deliver exceptional performances. Amazes me that the film is one big magic trick! Abracadabra!
Great movie with lots of intrigue and surprises. Highly recommended and when I say highly recommended that means it is a must see. Believe me you will not be disappointed.
It was a very intriguing movie, but the morals of the characters were gone. Not recommended.
This is a 2006 mystery thriller directed by Christopher Nolan, based on Christopher Priest's 1995 World Fantasy Award-winning novel of the same name.
The story focuses on Robert Angier and Alfred Borden, rival stage magicians in London at the end of the 19th century.
Obsessed with creating the best stage illusion, they engage in competitive one-upmanship with tragic results.
It is simply a fantasy and you will be fooled for sure.
