John Himmelman's picture books for 1-3rd graders are hilarious. I have read the first 2 of the series and this one is my favorite. Love it; no need to share with the kids but you can't help sharing the laughs. All the more incentive to get them to read!

My children LOVE this book! We've read it so many times that we noticed that there's always a lookout chicken, and a chicken sleeping that laid & egg! We will now be borrowing the rest of the series. 5 stars from us! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Very funny, great pictures and a recurring punchline which kids can shout out loud: "Chickens to the Rescue!"

I like it because it's funny! ~Marjorie, age 4

I read Pigs to Rescue first which I loved because the facial expressions of the pigs was a laugh a minute. The problem with using chickens as your main characters is with those beaks, they have no facial expression. The chickens here looked mostly chaotic and what they did was not cute or funny. There were way too many chickens. Thumbs up for nice illustrations otherwise.
Do I recommend this book? Maybe. Very little kids will enjoy the pictures.

A simple story, but the chickens are hilarious.

The pictures and story are hilarious fun. Great audience participation story if you can get all the kids to yell "CHICKENS TO THE RESCUE" at the appropriate moments.

It's fun to watch the chickens as they help the different members of the family and the other farm animals get out of sticky situations. Probably best for for pre-school and up.
