Angie Fenimore, the author, has shown courage in telling her story of what lessons were learned during a suicide attempt ;

This is a small book; friendly reading; when it was published in 1995, and few books had been published by authors telling about the "dark side" of a dying experience from a self inflicted, medical condition--suicide.
In the 1990's, the stories being published were more about "seeing the beauty" of the light while "inside" a near death experience.
In the first 12 chapters, Angie Fenimore slowly reveals the intense traumas and emotional upheavals of her growing up years which seemed to imprint into her "self" some deeply rooted psychological pain that proceeded to create her troubled behavior as an adult, mother, and wife.
Her story is one of the "near death experience" books, but unlike the 'going into the light' type of experience, she sees what she will know to be hell; darkness; pain, isolation, .... starting chapter 13. And ending the story, some chapters later on a bright note of insights gained, to be respected.
