Peter Sellers mugs and pratfalls, and everyone else stands around being straightmen.

My husband and I watched this last night..do not believe I have seen this movie since bits and pieces on TV when I was kids...was not expecting it to put me in giggles and smiles as much as it did. It is so refreshing to watch something that makes you laugh so hard rather than something that makes you shake your head and/or cry!

Not one of the better ones of the Pink Panther series but worth watching.

Peter Sellers' (Inspector Clouseau's) physical comedy was genius. I don't know who was funnier though, him, or poor Chief Inspector Dreyfus (Herbert Lom) and his nervous breakdown, with his eye twitching and demented giggle. Great stuff.

the first pink panther I ever saw. probably sellers' best. It's hilarious how he changes his identity but keeps his accent the same. also chief inspector Dreyfus' attempts to kill him are classic. And of course Christopher Plummer is in it.

Dreyfus: "Idiot!" Clouseau: "How was I to know he was the bank manager?" Dreyfus: "How were you to know the bank was being robbed?" Clouseau: "That is correct." Dreyfus: "What is correct?" Clouseau: "I did not know the bank was being 'robed' because I was en-gaged in my sworn duty as a police officer." Dreyfus: "You didn't even... arrest the old beggar!" Clouseau: "There was some question as to whether the beggar or his 'minky' was 'bracking-uh' the law." Dreyfus: " 'Minky'?" Clouseau: "What?" Dreyfus: "You said 'MINKY'!" Clouseau: "That is correct, yes. Chimpanzee, 'moonky'. So I let them both off, with a 'warn-ing-uh'."

Dreyfus: "The beggar was the lookout man for the gang." Clouseau: "That is impossible." Dreyfus: "Why?" Clouseau: "He was blind! How can a blind man be a lookout?" Dreyfus: "How can an IDIOT be a policeman? Answer me that!" Clouseau: "Sir, it's simple, all he has to do is enlist..." Dreyfus: "Shut up!"
