Rachel was most annoying and thank golly I stuck it out and read a few more in the series. She and I grew into becoming a happy character and reader.

This book is a wonderful first book in a great new fantasy series. Humans take a back seat to the Vampires, witches, pixies, werewolves and all the things that go bump in the night. Great deep and flawed characters capture our heart. All with action, humor, and serious issues tied together to make an enjoyable read.

Urban Fantasy. "It takes a witch to catch a witch," explains Rachel Morgan, who users her talents to apprehend unlicensed magic practitioners in the supernatural part of Cincinnati known as the Hollows. Fed up with the thankless, dead-end assignments provided by her employer, Interlander Security, Rachel intends to set up her own bounty-hunting business. Unfortunately, the only way to "retire" is to die on the job -- the solution favored by her former boss, who puts out a hit on her. Dead Witch Walking is the 1st book in author Kim Harrison's popular Hollows series, which includes 14 full-length novels as well as numerous short stories. Fantasy newsletter November 2015

I have loved ALL of Kim's Hollows books & would recommend any whom want alternative Supernatural Fantasy with only a light dollop (in comparison to say Sherrilyn Kenyon's novels, another great Supernatural Fantasy/ Romance writer in my opinion) of romance. Found her well written & her stories really tend to draw me in.

Loved it and the whole series. A few parts are questionable but in the end I fell for the characters and the story.

Slow beginning to an outstanding series. Glad I stuck with it. Jenks is a fantastic character, and I'm glad to follow him through the series.

I actually quite enjoyed this book. I absolutely loved Jenks and I cannot wait to keep on reading the series. Oh, BTW, Jenks is 4 inches tall not 6 and this book is not meant to be "thought provoking," it's meant to be entertaning. And so it is! I really enjoyed the plot with all the twists and turns and, yes, with Rachel's screw-ups and all. They make it entertaining. If you want something "thought provoking" I suggest you read Marx. ;o)

Read lots of these urban fantsy series & this one was just average. It tries too hard to be funny but is just mildly amusing in places. Thank goodness for the Jenks character, he's the best thing in it. More suitable as teen literature than adult .

White witch Rachel Morgan has been a bounty hunter for Inderland Security for the last three years and it's been a constant bumbling battle for good assignments to prove her worth. She's become bored and disillusioned with the job and she wants out. Problem is, retiring from I.S. means a swift and sure retirement from life. The I.S. doesn't take kindly to broken contracts.
She's got a risky idea that may get her around that, though...if she lives long enough to see it through. Rachel figures that if she can tag the largest brimstone dealer in the Hollows and Cincinnati area, she'll be able to get her contract paid off. However, getting the evidence to bring him down will be far from easy.

With the help of her pixy bodyguard and her living vampire roommate, she may just succeed. If she can quit getting caught.

Damn it back to the turn I would be lucky to survive this I.S. contract - Rachel about the contract out on her life.
